Alaska Family Dermatology COVID-19 Update

Alaska Family Dermatology is following the Alaska Department of Health & Social Services and CDC guidelines for maintaining a safe environment for our patients and staff during the coronavirus outbreak.

What we are doing:

-We are increasing the sanitizing of frequently touched surfaces of our office including desks, counter-tops, chairs, doorknobs, pens, examination rooms, etc.

-We will provide hand sanitizers in our office for patients and staff.  We require ALL persons to use hand sanitizer upon entering the office

-We are implementing the following practices to try to prevent crowding, waiting and to enable social distancing:

-Any adult patient who is physically able must come by themselves to the appointment.  Family friends may not come in to the office and should wait in the car or at home. Pediatric patients may come with one guardian and no other family member or friend.  Other guardians should be available by phone in the car or at home.

– All patients and visitors will be asked screening questions and have their temperature taken.

-Telemedicine.  We are implementing online patient visits through a secure, live stream video feed.  Patients may schedule appointments and be seen by the doctor using an app with their phone, Ipad, desktop, or laptop computer.  Commercial and governmental insurers have relaxed their rules and are covering these visits as they would a normal office visit.  Let us know if you are interested in scheduling an online video visit with Dr. Brown.

What can you do

-We recommend if you feel you have symptoms to call your Primary Care Doctor or 211.  Do NOT show up to the doctor’s office if you are sick without talking to them first. Review the above websites for information on testing.

-If you have a cough or fever, you will not be seen.  Call us and we will reschedule you for another time

-As mentioned We ask that patients respect others do not bring unnecessary family or friends to their appointment to increase social distancing.

-We ask that you try to arrive at least 5 minutes before your appointment if you are an established patient and at least 15 minutes before your appointment if you are a new patient. This will help us maintain numbers in the waiting room

-If you are an established patient and prefer to stay home and would like a telemedicine consultation with Dr. Gina, this will be available soon. We will provide details on our website and social media when available.
