Announcement of Suspension of In-Person Office Visits due to COVID-19
3/17/20 | Effective immediately, Alaska Family Dermatology, Dr. Gina Brown, will be moving all appointments through 3/27/20 to Telemedicine visits. That time may be eventually be extended. We do this out of an abundance of caution for our patients, employees, and their families. As medical professionals, we know that if we can slow the spread of COVID-19, then we are doing the least harm and giving staff of all disciplines time to fight for their patients who are seriously affected by it. All Alaska Family Dermatology patients will have their current in-person appointments canceled and have the opportunity to see Dr. Brown during the same time period utilizing Telemedicine, if possible.
Telemedicine/Telehealth is approved by near all commercial carriers and we will guarantee that if you are seen by Dr. Brown using telemedicine, there will be in-network coverage for all patients whose insurance we are contracted with.
Dr. Brown will see Telemedicine patients in a private, secure, & HIPAA-compliant virtual “room” which will not be recorded. Virtual check-in is as easy as downloading an app, signing up, and clicking on a link. You will be able to self-quarantine in your personal space while receiving a digital “house call” from Dr. Brown. Telemedicine is used across the world. With all of the remote areas in Alaska and the current pandemic, a once underutilized tool now is able to ensure quality care and follow through for patients.
As things continue to change every day, we want you to be assured that we will do everything in our power to provide continuity of care to our existing patients in a way that we believe will be of the best benefit and safety to them. We will keep being hypervigilant in the fight to contain COVID-19. We ask you to also be hypervigilant in your fight to contain it. It will take us all agreeing and following through on this to truly make a difference in fighting it.
